The Shallow Ford Foundation has announced the results and winners of the recent Juried Community Art Show & Sale, held in collaboration with the Muddy River Art Association at the Historic Broyhill on March 16.
The event showcased 67 pieces by local artists alongside 15 artist tables, offering attendees an opportunity to engage with diverse artistic styles and purchase items, from vibrant paintings to intricate sculptures and innovative mixed media.
Mediums included painting, pastel, colored pencil, drawing, sculpture, pottery, fiber, original hand-pulled prints, wood and mixed media.
Kimberly Varnadoe served as a judge for the show. Varnadoe earned her BFA in painting from the University of South Alabama and her MFA in printmaking from the University of Memphis. Since 1986, she has been teaching college art, including in her role as a professor at Salem College from 1994 to 2022, where she directed the Elberson Fine Arts Center Galleries for more than 25 years.
“Her expertise and enthusiasm significantly enhanced the event, making the presentation of 10 awards truly memorable. Heartfelt gratitude is extended not only to Kimberly, but also to the participating artists, volunteers and the Bingham Family, whose support made this event possible,” Mick Bowman, Shallowford Foundation communications and design associate, in a press release.
