Filling officially opened for the 2025 municipal elections on Monday, and Clemmons, Lewisville and Bermuda Run all have seats up for election.
Filing opened at 8 a.m. on Monday and will run through Friday, July 18, at noon. Candidates in Forsyth County can file at the Forsyth County Board of Elections office, 201 N. Chestnut St., Winston-Salem, while candidates in Davie County can file at their respective board of elections office, 161 Poplar St., Mocksville. Candidates can also submit the required notice, if certified, via mail or courier service. Notices must be submitted in person or by mail, they cannot be submitted by a surrogate.
This will be the first year that local Forsyth County elections will be run on a partisan basis, a change that local officials protested and stated was done without their input.

In Clemmons, the mayoral seat and three seats on the Village Council are up for election.
Incumbent Mayor Mike Rogers has already filed for reelection as a Republican. Rogers has served as mayor since first being elected in 2021 and spent 10 years as a member of the Village Council before that. He was elected in 2011 as a write-in candidate.
Council Member Randy Wooden has also filed for reelection as a Republican. Wooden is seeking a second term after first being elected in 2023.
In Lewisville, Republican Kevin Sharp has filed for the mayoral race. Sharp is a newcomer to politics and is a retired chiropractor who has lived in Lewisville for approximately two decades.
For the past five election cycles, Sharp would have been challenging longtime Lewisville leader Mike Horn for the town’s top seat. However, Horn announced last year that he would not be seeking reelection.
Lewisville also has two challengers for its Town Council seats, as Democrat Billy Carter Jr. and Republican Brady Allen filed for election. The two will be challenging incumbents Melissa Hunt, Ivan Huffman, Tom Lawson, Monte Long, Kenneth Sadler and Jane Welch. As of the end of Monday, none of the incumbents had filed for reelection.

Three Bermuda Run Town Council seats, currently held by Mike Ernst, Christy Schafer and Rod Guthrie, are up for grabs in November. Davie County municipal elections are still decided on a nonpartisan basis.
Because the Forsyth County elections are partisan, the state has scheduled a partisan primary date, if there are enough candidates, for Sept. 9 for Clemmons and Lewisville. A second primary would be held if necessary on Oct. 7.
