The Lowes Foods and Hormel Foods combined Monday to divide 1,000 hams among five Forsyth County agencies that help feed the needy, including the Clemmons Food Pantry.
Kathy Kovack said the 200 hams she received will be quickly dispersed in time for Christmas among the families who rely on the food pantry to make ends meet.
“We live in a very generous community. Clemmons Food Pantry is basically the face of that generosity,” she said.
The local pantry feeds 900 families a month. Lowes Foods employees formed a line to transfer the hams onto trucks going to the five agencies.
Hormel also presented a check for $20,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
