Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools is launching the second round of community feedback next week as part of its ongoing effort to modernize residential school boundaries across the district. Community members are invited to review the new map and comment on them online or during a series of community meetings beginning June 23.

The district has prepared a revised, consolidated draft boundary map that reflects updates based on thousands of comments, questions and concerns received during the first round of community engagement.

“We have heard the community and are scaling back the scope of the changes to focus on necessary updates to increase efficiency and save costs,” said Frank Pantano, WS/FCS executive director, office of choice and magnet schools, co-project lead.

On Monday, families, staff, students and community members can review the revised, consolidated map proposal and share their feedback through the interactive dashboard and upcoming engagement sessions. Visit the interactive map dashboard on the district’s website to:

  • View the second round of revisions
  • Enter home address to see how the proposed changes could affect them
  • Share their thoughts directly through the platform

These updates are not final and are intended to reflect community input gathered during the first phase of the planning process.

Community meetings begin June 23

About the planning initiative

The WS/FCS Residential Boundary Planning Project is a two-year, stakeholder-driven planning effort funded by a $943,688 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The project aims to increase socioeconomic diversity across schools and improve transportation efficiency, ensuring that every student has equitable access to opportunity.

WS/FCS is one of only 12 school districts nationwide selected to receive this grant.
