The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education has approved several principal appointments at schools throughout the district, including new principals at Ward Elementary School, Morgan Elementary School and Lewisville Middle School.
Lajoi Wilson-Moore was named as the new principal of Ward. She currently serves as the principal of the WS/FCS Virtual Academy, where she has led efforts to support student learning in a digital environment.
Prior to her current role, she served as principal of North Hills Elementary School and as assistant principal at Jefferson Middle School. She has worked at Hill Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School and Ibraham Elementary School. She was named WS/FCS Assistant Principal of the Year in 2023. She has worked in Virginia and Illinois school districts and as an adjunct professor at several universities.
Wilson-Moore is a graduate of Hampton University and Southern Illinois University, where she was a teaching and principal fellow.
She is the successor to Colin Tribby, who will be moving within the district to Wiley Magnet Middle School. Tribby will be leaving Ward after overseeing a 13-point increase in the school’s overall composite score.
Tribby began his administrative career serving as a principal intern at Wiley Middle School. He was assistant principal at The Downtown School, R.J. Reynolds High School and Glenn High School and principal at Easton Elementary School and in Davidson County at Thomasville Primary before moving to Ward.
Tribby is currently completing his doctor of education in educational leadership at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and serves on the WS/FCS District Planning Team and the board of the Forsyth Principals’ Association. He has a post-masters certificate of school administration from UNC-G, a master of arts in music performance from the University of Rochester, NY and a bachelor of arts in music performance from the UNC School of The Arts.
Morgan Elementary’s new leader will be Cynthia Russell, who has served as the principal of Gibson Elementary School for the past three years after being promoted from assistant principal.
Prior to her tenure at Gibson, Russell served as an instructional facilitator at John F. Kennedy High School and held leadership roles in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, including district-level support for Title I and advanced studies programs.
She holds a master of arts in school administration from Gardner-Webb University and a bachelor of science in middle grades education from Winston-Salem State University.
Russell will take over for Lisa Davis, who is in turn taking over Lewisville Middle School from Lowanna Wade. Davis has served as the principal of Morgan Elementary School since 2023. During her tenure, she reorganized the school’s AIG model to promote equity and improved the school’s performance grade from a C to a B. Prior to that, she served as assistant principal at Lewisville Middle School and Vienna Elementary School. She began her career with WS/FCS as a teacher at Vienna in 1998.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School Administration Program, Davis has been recognized as a Teacher of the Year, a district-level presenter and a mentor for aspiring school leaders.
Wade will be moving to Paisley IB Magnet School after serving as the principal at Lewisville Middle School for the past two years. Prior to her role at Lewisville, Wade served as assistant principal at West Forsyth High School and Piedmont Classical High School, where she also held the role of interim principal. She began her career as a health and physical education teacher and school counselor, and has held various leadership roles across both Guilford and Forsyth County schools. In 2022, she was nominated for WS/FCS Assistant Principal of the Year.
Wade holds a master of science in school administration from North Carolina A&T State University, a master’s in school counseling from Capella University, and a bachelor of science in community health and school health education from East Carolina University.
