Carl Robert “Skip” Larson

Carl Robert “Skip” Larson, 77, of Clemmons — loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend — passed into the loving arms of his Savior on June 1, 2025. Skip was born to Carl Franklin Larson and Mary McDonald Larson on July 11, 1947, in Jamestown, N.Y. His family moved to Winston-Salem when he was 11 years old. He graduated from Gray High School in 1965. Skip joined the U.S. Navy after high school and proudly served in Vietnam as a hospital corpsman with the U.S. Marines. He retired from the Navy Reserves after 22 years of service and graduated from UNC-G with a degree in economics. He retired from the Department of Public Health Sciences Bowman Gray School of Medicine after 20 years of service. Skip was a faithful member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church for over 50 years serving as an acolyte, lay reader, lay eucharistic minister and vestry member. He was a proud member of the Clemmons Masonic Lodge serving as master, coach and secretary. He was a Crisis Control Ministry volunteer.

On Sept. 30, 1978, he married Jean Kirk Webb at the chapel in Tanglewood Park. They enjoyed life together for more than 46 years. Surviving are his wife Jean, daughter Amber Johnson (Eric), son Robert Prescott “Scott” Larson (Ashley), and grandchildren Brienna Johnson, Lucy Larson and Reece Larson. He is also survived by brothers Lynn Larson (Jeanne) and David Larson (Kathy) and their families, and in-laws Elaine Britt and Joan and Ron Cope and families. He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law Jerry Britt. Skip was blessed with many loving friends. He lived his life of faith in service to others.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday June 7, 2025, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 2575 Parkway Dr., Winston-Salem, with Fr. Steve Rice and Fr. Luke Klingstedt officiating. A reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Department of Family and Community Medicine Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist for their many years of excellent care. Also the family would like to thank the staff of Trellis Supportive Care for their care and kindness.
