FCSO Drone as a First Responder program leads to Clemmons arrest

CLEMMONS — A man who allegedly stole from an AT&T Store in Clemmons and fled on foot was arrested on Friday after deputies were able to utilize the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office’s Drone as a First Responder program to track the man.
The incident began at the store, located at 2529 Lewisville-Clemmons Road, when the man fled the store after stealing two Apple iPhones, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. The man was reportedly confronted by deputies near Cook Avenue, where he allegedly ignored commands and continued to run.
The drone had been activated for the incident and began tracking the man as he fled through the business district of Clemmons, according to the release. DFR operators were reportedly able to relay the information about the man’s location to the deputies on the ground.
Daquon Elliot McLean has been charged with two counts of larceny and one count of resisting, delaying and obstructing a public officer.
