Leon Arthur Milhous Jr.
Leon Arthur Milhous Jr., 79, passed away unexpectedly from complications of a stroke while in rehab on April 28, 2025, in Winston-Salem.
Art, as many knew him, was born on Dec. 19, 1945, in Forsyth County to Leon Arthur Milhous and Elizabethanne Fendrick Jones Milhous. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1964 and Guilford College in 1981 with a bachelor of science in chemistry.
He retired as a master scientist in December 2008 from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, Analytical Chemistry Division, after 43 plus years of service. His entire career was in the Research and Development Department. He had many achievements throughout his career, including one that was awarded a patent to RJ Reynolds in 1986. He was a former member of the American Chemical Society.
He was a lifelong member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Yadkin Senior Golf Association and the Tanglewood Golf Association. He also played in the Carolina Golf Association tournaments for many years.
He was a great cook and loved cooking for his family at holidays and family gatherings. He also loved to travel.
He will be missed greatly by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Lewis Milhous, his two wonderful children Lisa Parker (Jim) and Ryan Milhous (Krissy Thomas), and two precious granddaughters, Hailey Parker (Wade McLain) and Jenna Parker. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Howell (Charles and family) and brother Robert Milhous (Debbie and family).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, Senior Adult Ministry Fund, 646 West Fifth Street, Winston-Salem NC 27101.
A graveside service was held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Salem Cemetery in Winston-Salem. Condolences may be shared online at www.salemfh.com.

• Mr. William “Bill” Craig Magness, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at his home in Clemmons.
