Nine West Forsyth athletes sign NLI to play in college

West Forsyth had its spring signing day Tuesday, and nine athletes signed their National Letters of Intent to play their respective sports in college.

The leading sport for signees was football, coached by Kevin Wallace, in which five Titans signed. Daviare Eldridge signed with Winston-Salem State. According to MaxPreps.com, Eldridge finished last season with 34 tackles, including 20 solo, in 11 games. Eldridge is the son of David and Candice Eldridge.

Quarterback Riley Horton signed with Fayetteville State. Horton played in 12 games last season, and according to MaxPreps.com, he finished 113-of-225 passing for 1,670 yards with 18 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also finished with 637 yards rushing on 125 carries and eight touchdowns. Horton is the son of Ryan and Keisha Horton.

Kale Vest signed with Wingate. According to MaxPreps.com, Vest had 22 solo tackles and 24 assists last season. Vest is the son of Brian and Melinda Vest.

Kale Cushing, who played center and guard, signed to play football at Guilford. Cushing is the son of Chris and Cassie Cushing.

Vanderlei Baldwin, who played cornerback at West Forsyth, signed to play football at Greensboro College. According to MaxPreps.com, Baldwin had two interceptions last season in 10 games. Baldwin is the son of Wendy Baldwin.

Two boys soccer players – Omar Brahim and Abiel Lopez-Dominguez – signed to play in college. Brahm, the son of Edres Brahim and Khadija Siali, signed to play at Converse College. According to MaxPreps.com, Brahim played in 25 games last season and finished with six games.

Lopez-Dominguez, the son of Luis and Maribel Lopez, signed to play at Mars Hill. Brahim and Lopez-Dominguez were coached last season at West Forsyth by John Blake.

Katherine Perdue, ranked by swimcloud.com as the 48th best girls swimmer in North Carolina, signed to go to Wingate. Perdue placed 15th in the NCHSAA Class 4-A state championship in February in Cary in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:08.97, and she also finished at 2:06.70 in the 200 back. Perdue, coached by Sandy Thomerson at West Forsyth, is the daughter of Rodney and Katherine Perdue.

Logan Garrison, a golfer coached by Debra Troxell, signed to play at Post University. Harrison is the son of John and Kelly Garrison.
