Harrison named Rotary Student of the Month

Jack Harrison was recognized on March 19, as the Rotary Club of Clemmons Student of the Month for March.
Harrison is an excellent student with a GPA of 4.6 and ranks 7 out of 493 students, with dual enrollment at Forsyth Tech Community College. He is taking challenging classes at West Forsyth High School, including several Honors courses, and is taking a wide range of challenging courses at Forsyth Tech Community College.
Harrison is a member of the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society and the Phi Theta Kappa Society at the community college level.
He has been involved with JROTC since his freshman year at West Forsyth and his display of dedication and leadership skills resulted in many awards and honors and caused him to be raised to the rank of Lt. colonel and battalion commander. He has also been a member of the JROTC drill team and JROTC archery team during his high school career.
In addition, Harrison has been a member of the West Forsyth track team competing in cross country, indoor and outdoor events and has varsity letters and was named team captain for all. He has been instrumental in the success of each of those teams.
Outside of school, he has volunteered for several community service projects including working with special needs children at River Oaks Community Church, Special Olympic Track, Down Syndrome Buddy Walk, Mobile Meals of Guilford County, Annual GSO Flight of Honor and several projects involving assisting students at West.
Jack has received an appointment to attend the U.S. Naval Academy and hopes to be a Navy pilot upon graduation and feels it a responsibility and honor to serve his country.
“The Rotary Club of Clemmons congratulates Jack for his accomplishments and contributions to his school and community,” wrote the club in a press release.
