As the fourth quarter is now underway, there are only a mere nine weeks left until the end of the school year. Campus is full of excitement and energy following the Titan’s restful spring break, but it is often an obstacle to carry the same motivation to the very end of the year. With simple reminders and routines, there are a handful of ways that may help students stick it out until summer vacation.
Make a countdown
The best way for students to remind themselves that they are strong enough to keep going is by having a countdown going until the end of May. Whether on a physical calendar or an app, being able to see the remaining days of the school year and crossing a new one off each morning allows students to have more drive to finish out strong. Because the calendar was changed for the 2024-2025 school year, the Titans will finish school far earlier than in previous years, which is sure to make it easier for students to stay focused and motivated as an early summer awaits them.
Enjoy every moment
A simple change in one’s mindset may be the thing that makes the school days a little more enjoyable at the very end, as school is what you make of it. Every student has a different high school experience, but it’s important to remember that it is a temporary part of life which you will likely reflect on down the road. By cherishing friends, creating bonds with teachers, and understanding what each class is providing for education, school feels like more of a privilege rather than a chore. Students taking the time to recognize all of the important things that the high school experience is doing for them will be far more inclined to miss it when the summer comes. Time flies when having fun, so try to make each day as special and memorable as possible.
Look forward to the future
Being excited for the near future does not only allow for motivation at the end of the school year, but also for the remaining years of one’s high school career. In the last quarter before summer vacation, students are filled with excitement for their travels, the time to relax away from school, and the freedom from a daily routine, but it may also help to look forward to what the next year holds. Each year of high school is intended to better prepare students for college, so take it as an opportunity to grow as both a person and a student. Following class registration during the third quarter, students now have a picture of what their upcoming year will look like, which may provide a bit of excitement or interest for what’s to come. Seniors have different circumstances as their college journey is nearly beginning, but if they remember the importance of maintaining their effort until the end of the year in order to keep their college acceptances and enrollments, it will be far easier to stay focused.
The period of the school year after spring break is arguably the most difficult time for students to stay on task, but there are ways to combat this lack of motivation. Consider these tips to push through until summer vacation while still taking advantage of everything that high school has to offer in the process.
