Warren Edward Kasper
Warren Edward Kasper, 73, died with his trademark smile firmly in place on Feb. 13, 2025.
Warren was many things — a longstanding community contributor, trusted legal counsel, avid fly fisherman, steadfast NCSU Wolfpacker, strategic bridge player — but above all, he was a devoted and doting family man.
Born in Roanoke Rapids to Thelma and Peter Kasper, Warren graduated from N.C. State University in 1973, and stayed in Raleigh for two additional years to do graduate studies and teach freshman English at the university. He graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1978, and clerked at the N.C. Supreme Court in 1978-1979.
In 1980, Warren opened his law office in Clemmons, and continued to serve his clients until the day he was admitted to the hospital. Many clients became friends, and he saw his role as providing help to people when they needed it most. He sat on the Clemmons Village Council, and served as the village’s attorney for about 30 years.
As proud as he was of his professional life, he was prouder still of his family. He and Sally Kasper raised three strong, smart and kind children: Meredith Parris (John), David Kasper (Judy), and Lindsay Gossett (Jason). When he married Maura Payne in 2004, he embraced his two stepsons, George “Trip” Payne (Nicki), and Harris Payne as his very own and loved them dearly. He was so proud of all five of his children and reveled in the successful blending of the families.
He was “Gdubs” to nine grandchildren, each of whom could wrap him around their little finger. Carson, Ryan, John David, Mark, Anna, Matthew, Elliot, Andi and Sam, Gdubs loves you and always will.
Funeral services for Warren will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, at Clemmons Methodist Church, 3700 Clemmons Road, Clemmons. The family will receive visitors immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research, 14600 Weston Parkway, Cary, N.C., 27513, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
