Furman University spring 2019 dean’s list

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The following local Furman University students have been named to the dean’s list for the 2019 spring semester. Furman’s dean’s list is composed of full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher on a four-point system.

• James Cecil, of Clemmons, son of Susannah Cecil and Zachary Cecil
• Camden Pereira, of Clemmons, daughter of Michael Pereira and Ann Whorton
• Corrine Helman, of Lewisville, daughter of Melissa Helman and Steven Helman

Alexander graduates from Centre College

DANVILLE, Ky. — Katie Alexander of Clemmons graduated from Centre College with a bachelor of arts degree in religion during the 196th commencement ceremony held on campus Sunday, May 19. She graduated cum laude.

Alexander is the daughter of Beth and Welborn Alexander of Clemmons and is a graduate of Watauga High School.

Local students named to Mars Hill University dean’s list for spring 2019

MARS HILL — Mars Hill University recognizes 333 students named on the honor roll of the academic dean at the end of the spring 2019 semester. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 on a minimum of 12 semester hours, and carry no grade below a C. Among them are:

• Casey Margaret Stanek of Winston-Salem

• Daniel Tran Foskett Hudgins of Winston-Salem

• Emilee Wenmoth of Clemmons

May makes dean’s commendation list at Gettysburg College

GETTYSBURG, PA — Students with a quality point average in the range of 3.300 to 3.599 for a semester’s work are placed on the college’s deans’ commendation list.

Spencer May of Lewisville has been placed on the dean’s commendation list for outstanding academic achievement in the spring 2019 semester.
