Crystal Cass knows all about cutting hair. She works as a hairdresser at Sunny & Shears Salon in Lewisville, and she and her husband, Brian, are the salon’s owners. Crystal trims and snips multiple heads of hair every day, and last week she welcomed two very special customers - her daughters.
Caroline Cass, age eight, and Lydia Cass, age seven, wanted to donate their hair to Locks of Love, and their mother was more than happy to oblige. Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Locks of Love collects donated hair and uses it to create high-quality hair prosthetics for these children.
Many of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to alopecia areata, a medical condition which has no known cause or cure.
“Last year, a girl in my Brownie Troop donated her hair to Locks of Love, and that’s where Caroline and Lydia got the idea,” explained Crystal.
“We felt sorry for the kids who don’t have any hair and we wanted to help them,” added Caroline... Subscribe to the Clemmons Courier, P.O. Box 765, Clemmons, NC 27012.
