Lewisville contracts for street survey
By Summer Smith
-
At its regular meeting on October 12, the Lewisville Town Council voted 7-0 to approve a $13,000 contract with US Infrastructure of Carolina, Inc. (USI) to conduct a new pavement condition rating survey.
John Fersner, P.E., and Michael Marsh of USI will work in conjuction with Lewisville’s Public Works Director, George Hauser, to compile the survey. The survey will involve riding each street owned or maintained by the town, observing and quantifying pavement distresses and collecting physical inventory data.
Each street will be assessed a Pavement Condition Rating. The rating starts at 100 with points deducted for each distress found. The eight pave distresses which will be measured are: alligator cracking, block cracking, reflective cracking, rutting, raveling, bleeding, ride quality and patching.
When completed, the survey data will give Public Works a prioritized list of which streets need repair plus the extent of and a cost estimate for those repairs.
Council also voted 7-0 in favor of a budget amendment to move the $13,000 from the Powell Bill-Engineering Fund to the General Fund.
