John Peyton Tucker, Jr. of Cornelius, NC, died on May 1, 2009 at the Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC after a long and courageous battle against cancer. He was the son of John Peyton Tucker and the late Kathryn Tucker of Clemmons. He is survived by his devoted wife, Laura Carpenter Tucker, whom he loved and respected greatly. Born in 1947 and raised in Winston-Salem, NC, he was a spirited youngster and has stayed in close touch with his childhood friends over the years. He was an enthusiastic licensed general contractor who built many quality homes in the Lake Norman area. He was an avid saltwater fisherman who loved the deep water off the North Carolina and Florida coasts, and was a longtime fan of NASCAR. In addition to his wife, Laura; and his father; he is survived by his brother, George Edward Tucker and wife, Jan; as well as his nephews, Bradley Tucker, Sam Tucker and Nicholas Tucker, who is serving his country on active duty in the U.S. Navy. Peyton’ s family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Levine Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078, Cornelius Animal Shelter, PO BOX 399, Cornelius, NC 28031, or the charity of the donor’ s choice. A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Raymer Funeral Home, Huntersville. Camilla Ramsey Baker Mrs. Camilla Ramsey Baker, 75, of Winston-Salem, died Friday, May 1, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Baker was born January 8, 2009 in York County, S.C. to the late Leroy and Pauline Ramsey. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eldred G. Baker. Those left to cherish her memory are: a daughter, Susan Baker; son, Michael Baker and wife, Lisa; four grandchildren, Jordan, Jonathon, Madison, and Nicholas; also surviving is a brother, L.W. Ramsey of Knoxville, TN; two sisters, Rhonda Costner of Fort Mill, SC and Vicki Clarke of Rock Hill, SC. A Graveside Service was held Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. George Martin Colucci Mr. George Martin Colucci, 93, died Monday, April 27, 2009 at his residence, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness. Funeral Services were held Saturday, May 2, at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden. Interment followed at Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Joe Collins and the Rev. Phil DeBerry officiating. Mr. Colucci was born on February 22, 1916 in Hampton Bays, New York. He was the only child of the late James and Rosalie Federico Colucci. He graduated from Alfred University in Alfred, NY with a BS in Ceramic Engineering. He was a retired Ceramic Engineer, and was a member of the American Ceramic Society. He was a member of the Ceramic Engineers of East Liverpool, OH and the Alliance-Canton area in Ohio. Mr. Colucci was a United States Army veteran, who served during World War II in North Africa, Europe, the Philippines and Japan. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church near Clemmons. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie; his daughters and their husbands, Caryl and David Cheeseman of Greensboro; Cynthia and Stephen Chambers of Raleigh, Holly and Thomas Bush of Clemmons; grandchildren, Shelly Owens (Dan) of Atlanta, Stacey Herndon (Brandon) of Apex; Larry Halstead of Asheville, Stephanie Chambers of Raleigh; and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend special thanks to his day time care-giver of several years, Debbie Bergmann, and Hospice Dr. Cynthia Leonard and nurse, Debbie Foltz. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 4265 Ebert Rd., Winston Salem, NC 27127; Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church, 4834 Pleasant Garden Rd.; and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103. Mary Janet Rawls Mrs. Mary Janet Rawls passed away Wednesday April 29, 2009 at the Katie B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem after a long battle with Colon Cancer. Jan was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of Clemmons and was active with the Columbiettes. She was preceded in death by her mother Eleanor Ruth Avernian, and her brother Robert Edward Elmendorf. She leaves behind her husband Elbert “Skip” Rawls. Five children, Robert Allen Boyer, Debra Boyer Stewart, Ross Adam Boyer, Stephanie Marie Austin, and Elbert “Bert” Rawls, Eight grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan, Joshua, Paige, Nicholas, Emily, Sophia, and Eli. Special longtime friends of the family, Lynn Prouty, Kimberly Watson, and Jonathan Young. Services were held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday May 1. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Katie B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. |
