Early Tuesday morning, November 25, 2008, James “Jim” B. Bostic passed away peacefully at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on February 21, 1922 in Bostic, NC (Rutherford County) to the late Preston Van Buron Bostic and Mollie Lou Anderson Bostic. A proud veteran of World War II, Jim served in the U.S. Naval Forces and contributed bravely to the Asiatic/Pacific winning campaign. He was a member of First Baptist Church for over 40 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bostic was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Doris Fowlkes Bostic; brothers, Clifton Bostic, Woodrow Bostic, Rodney Bostic, Lester Bostic and George Bostic; and sisters, Thelma Bostic Johnson, Nan Bostic Worley, Margie Bostic and Margaret Bostic. Surviving are his son, Robbie Bostic and wife, Karen of Clemmons; grandchildren, Lindsay Ann Bostic of Raleigh and Matthew Robert Bostic of Boone; and a sister, Ruth Ezzell of Waxhaw, SC. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 501 W. 5th Street, Winston-Salem on Sunday, November 30, 2008. Dr. David Hughes will be officiating. Visitation will follow until 3 p.m. in the Church sanctuary. Interment is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to: First Baptist Church, 501 W. 5th Street, Winston- Salem, NC 27101 or to American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407 or to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. The family would like to especially thank the staff of The Elms at Tanglewood for the outstanding loving care Jim received where he spent the past six years as a resident; and more recently, the medical assistance and loving care received at Bermuda Commons and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Jim was a special Dad, Pop, Uncle and friend..We love himand will miss him dearly! Erma Amanda Thompson Watkins Mrs. Erma Amanda Thompson Watkins, 98, of Lewisville, passed away Thanksgiving Day. She was the oldest daughter of Reeze F. and Margaret Elizabeth Sink Thompson. She married Walter Thomas Watkins in 1931. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter; three sisters and two brothers: Eva Myers, Agnes Duggins, Ruth Sowers, Zeb Thompson and Ernest Thompson. She is survived by her loving daughter, Lois; and two sisters, Grace Fulp and Louise Simpson. She retired from Hanes Knitting with 44½ years of service as a seamstress. Funeral Services were conducted Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Unity Moravian Church with the Rev. Stewart Zimmerman and the Rev. William McElveen officiating. . A Graveside Service was conducted Monday, December 1, 2008 at Forsyth Memorial Park with the Rev. Stewart Zimmerman officiating. Memorials may be made to Unity Moravian Church, 8300 Concord Church Road Lewisville NC 27023. The family would like to thank the caregivers; Michelle Draughn, Helen Coram, Marcie Wiggins and Bobbie Collins. Also, a special thanks to Unity Moravian Church for their love and support over the last 28 years. Edward Michael Farsich Edward Michael Farsich, formerly of Closter, NJ, passed away on Wednesday November 26, 2008 at age 69, after fighting Multiple Myeloma for 7 months. Edward retired from Coffin Turbo Pump in Englewood, NJ after 32 years as a machinist and moved to North Carolina in 2003. He enjoyed making elaborate birdhouse’ s, character cutouts, playing piano, and most of all being with his family and friends. Surviving is his wife, Marie (Nussbaum), his son, Michael Faresich of Gloucester, MA; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Reiner Kamper of Clemmons; and his cherished granddaughter, Savannah Kamper. Also surviving are Marie’ s children, Fred, Kenny (Susie), Tim (Isabel), Tom (Linda) Gallione, Roe (Bradley) Coker, Kathy (Art) Robin, and Joe (Caryn) Gallione. Ed was also “Grandpa” to Nicole and Timmy, Andrew and Sara, Gina and Joey, Olivia and Anthony, Max and Nate. Ed leaves behind many other cherished family members and friends, including his brother, Robert Faresich and wife, Barbara; sister, Marilyn Balzar and husband, Ed. A Funeral Service will be held at Vogler & Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation 383 Main Ave., Norwalk, CT 06851. Jewel O’Lester Reich Jewel O’Lester Reich, 92, of Lewisville, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008 at his home. He was born June 23, 1916 in Forsyth County to Fred and Margaret Black Reich. Mr. Reich enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also loved animals, farming, and working in his machine shop. He was retired from D.D. Bean Company. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Lillian Pilcher Reich. Surviving are one son, Harold Conway Reich; three daughters, Shirley Ann Hall (Will), Kay Roberts (Jerry), and Faye Lawson (Mike); eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a special caregiver, Diane Parks; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, December 3, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain Ken Bradstock officiating. Burial followed in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. |
