Thomas Wiley Fulk, 85, of 317 Dunbarton Ct., Spartanburg, SC, died December 4, 2008 at home. He was the husband of Sharon Freed Fulk of the home. Mr. Fulk was a native of Lewisville, NC and was the son of the late Thomas Wake Fulk and Maude Cornelius Fulk. He was a graduate of Lewisville High School, Lewisville, NC, Oak Ridge Military Academy, Oak Ridge, NC and North Carolina State University with a degree in Textile Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy as an Ammunition Officer during World War II. Prior to retirement in 1982, he was Executive Vice President and General Manager of Butte Knitting Mills. Among the survivors is one sister, Mary Alice Warren of Winston-Salem, NC. A Memorial Service was held Sunday, December 7, 2008. at St. John’ s Lutheran Church officiated by Dr. Boyd Cook and the Rev. Everette L. Lineberger. A private inurnment will be in the Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jack Warren Memorial Park, Town of Lewisville, P.O. Box 547, Lewisville, NC 27023. Martha Rebecca Fleming Edmondson Mrs. Martha Rebecca Fleming Edmondson, 83, of Winston-Salem died Friday, December 5, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 22, 1925 in Greensboro, the daughter of the late Robert Andrew Fleming, Sr. and Mary Cottrell Fleming. She was active in several churches over the years as leader of youth groups, children’ s choir and Sunday school teacher. She was presently a member of Faith United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Tom Nail Class and the United Methodist Women. She graduated from Greensboro College with an A. B. Degree and taught kindergarten and elementary grades in North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia. She was a Girl Scout leader for ten years with Brownie and Junior troops and was a volunteer for nine years at Arbor Acres with the Critter Cuddlin’ program. In 1989 she was “Critter Cuddler” of the year for the Forsyth Humane Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gilliam Edmondson, Jr.; her son-in-law, Paul M. Vernon, Jr.; and her faithful companion, “Gizmo”. Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca E. “Becky” Choplin and husband, Wayne and Elizabeth E. “Betsy” Vernon of Pfafftown; two grandsons, Donald Paul Vernon of Pfafftown and Michael W. Choplin and wife, Cassidy of Conover; one granddaughter, Sara C. Atkins and husband, Kenneth of Lexington; three great grandchildren, Kenneth O. Atkins, Blakeley E. Atkins and William M. Choplin; two brothers, Robert A. Fleming, Jr. and wife, Cecile and Michael B. Fleming. Martha was also survived by her close friend, Joan W. Vernon. A Celebration of Life service was conducted Monday, December 8, 2008 at Faith United Methodist Church in Rural Hall with the Rev. Evelyn M. Lemons officiating. A graveside service was conducted on Tuesday at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church Relay for Life Fund, 1645 Griffin Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045. Frances Anne Chaffin Tkach Mrs. Frances Anne Chaffin Tkach, age 70 of Clemmons, died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at her home. She was born on July 9, 1938 in Cumberland County to the late Albert and Ruby Starling Chaffin. Mrs. Tkach was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Her parents; one daughter, Valerie Harris; and a sister, Althea LeGrand preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Edward M. Tkach, Sr. of the home; six children, Debbie Lowdermilk (Gray) of Mocksville, Edward M. Tkach, Jr. of Buffalo, NY, Albert G. Tkach (Donna) of Advance, Frankie A. Starnes (James) of High Rock Lake, David A. Tkach (Paula) of Mocksville and Cliff B. Tkach (Renae) also of Mocksville; 11 grandchildren, Will, Ben and Kelly Lowdermilk, Heather Vestal, Sterling Tkach and Brandy Shore, Kaylee and Ashlee Trivette, Jesse and Emmie Tkach and Adam Ridenhour; one great-grandson, Aiyden Vestal and a special friend, David D’ Amico. A Memorial Mass was conducted Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Lisa Nifong Curry Lisa Nifong Curry passed away on Friday Dec 5th, 2008. She was born March 20, 1961 in Forsyth County to Marie Brewer Nifong and Dr. Paul D. Nifong Sr. Lisa is survived by her mother and dad; brothers, Dr. Paul D. Nifong Jr. and wife, Melissa of Clemmons N.C., Gary B. Nifong and wife, Margaret of Durham N.C.; five nieces and nephews, Alex Nifong, Patrick Nifong, Molly Nifong, Nathaniel Nifong, and Ashley Nifong. Lisa was very active in attending Clemmons Moravian Church and Laurel Ridge Camp in her youth. She played softball at Southwest Junior High School. She graduated from West Forsyth High School and attended college at UNC Charlotte and College of Charleston. While at West Forsyth, Lisa was the Secretary and Treasurer of her senior class. She was an active member of the Medical Explorer Post 487 and was a member of the Red Cross Volunteer Service. She volunteered at Baptist Hospital and enjoyed playing the piano, guitar and worked on photography. She loved art and had a gift of giving to others. She won several awards for her photography and enjoyed designing artistic cards that she gave to friends and family. Lisa also loved her cats. She was a high spirited fun loving person until she developed mental illness at age 21. Lisa struggled with her mental illness for 26 years and put forth a valiant effort to live a normal life while fighting this difficult disease. She never gave up; she was a kind sister to her brothers and provided much joy to her mother and father. Now that Lisa’ s suffering is over; she can go Home to be with her Heavenly Father. Funeral Services were held on Monday December 8, 2008 at. at Clemmons Moravian Church with interment following in church Grave Yard. Carmela Pepe Carmela Pepe, 79, of Clemmons, passed away December 4, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born Feb. 7, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA. Survivors include her children, Mary (James) Romano and Paul (Dorothy) Pepe all of Clemmons, John (Dorothy) Pepe of Cape May, NJ, Connie Turner and Anthony (Denise) Pepe, Joseph Pepe all of Philadelphia, PA; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and special nephew, Michael D’ Agostino. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Dec. 9 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons with interment following at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Edward Lewis Hethcox Edward Lewis Hethcox, 83, of Clemmons, passed away on December 3, 2008. The Funeral Service was held Friday, December 5, 2009 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel with the Rev. Jim Andrews officiating. Burial followed at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Hethcox was born in Thomasville on December 11, 1924. Pop, as he was known by those who were close to him, was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a welder by trade. He served in World War II in the South Pacific on Guadalcanal. Ed was an avid golfer, animal lover and a fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels. He is survived by his loving wife, Edith Whitaker Hethcox of the home; one daughter, Ann Thompson Everidge of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Amy Alcon Lane of Greensboro, William Anthony Alcon of Concord, and David Corbett Everidge of East Bend; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by countless relatives and friends. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the family. |
