John McAlvin Turner, 38, culinary student at Kendall College, former Production Manager at ARC Worldwide, formerly of Clemmons, North Carolina, passed away suddenly but peacefully in his sleep January 19, 2009. John was the beloved life partner of Kimberly Haschalk. Cherished son of Barbara and the late McAlvin Turner; loving brother of Andrea (fiancé Joseph Migliarese); devoted grandson of Dolly “Gaggy” Fox, all of North Carolina. John will be remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends as a creative and talented graphic design artist and photographer, avid Cubs fan, caring, loving and loyal forever partner and friend. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, January 27th, 2009 at Clemmons United Methodist Church in Clemmons, North Carolina. A gathering to celebrate John will also be held in Chicago at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Clemmons United Methodist Church. 3700 Clemmons Road, Clemmons, NC 27012. www.clemmonsumc.org Edgar Wesley Calloway Edgar Wesley Calloway, 82, of Clemmons, died unexpectedly following a stroke on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on March 4, 1926 in Winston-Salem to Pansy and Marvin Calloway, Sr. A veteran of World War II, he retired from the United States Postal Service after a 38-year career. He was a longtime member of Burkhead United Methodist Church, where he was treasurer for several years, lay leader, lay delegate to annual conference, and held many leadership positions in the church. He was a current member of the Clemmons Kiwanis Club, having been a past president and treasurer. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother. Surviving are his wife of 54½ years, Norma Cox Calloway, of the home; son, Christopher Bryan Calloway, of Carrboro, N.C.; son, Kevin Wesley Calloway; daughter-in-law, Denise Wilson Calloway; and granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Calloway of Nashville, N.C. Also surviving are brothers, Marvin Calloway, Jr. (Louise), of Winston-Salem, and Rev. James Calloway (Patricia), of Hendersonville; sisters, Edith Blair (Herb), of High Point, Nancy Manning (Leo), of Winston-Salem, and Sylvia Long of Charleston, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, January 23, 2009 at Burkhead United Methodist Church, 5250 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27106, conducted by the Rev. Kathie Sherrill. Memorials are requested for Burkhead United Methodist Church. Bobby Michael Gregory Bobby Michael Gregory, 48, of Pfafftown went to be with the Lord on Jan. 21, 2009. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a member of “Rolling Thunder”. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Gene Gregory. He is survived by his wife Denise; daughter, Crystal Spillman and three grandchildren; Dylan, Zachery and Erin. His mother, Wilda Cameron, grandmother Ellen Gregory, step mother Brenda Gregory , sister Lisa (Mike) Shoaf, Teresa (Kenneth) Byrd and step sister Jackie (Ray) Hepler. His mother and father-in- law Howard and Linda Pegram; brother-in-law Daryle (Rose) Pegram and sisters-in-law Tammy (Rod) Sizemore and Teresa (Philip) Smith. Also numerous special friends, special nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Annie Ruth Pickett Dorsett Mrs. Annie Ruth Pickett Dorsett, 95 died Sunday, January 18, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009, at New Hope United Methodist Church, 4215 New Hope Church Road, Asheboro, with Rev. Brad Thie officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Annie is survived by her daughters, Ruth Dorsett, of Stuart, VA, Earlene (John) Ferguson, of Bermuda Run, NC; son, Hoyt (Linda) Dorsett, of Bermuda Run, NC; grandchildren, Jeff Ferguson, of Advance, NC, Capt. Randy Ferguson, of Virginia Beach, VA, Leeanne D. Milks, of Wilmington, NC, Cmdr. Ken Ferguson, of Monterey, CA, Dr. Adam Dorsett, of Advance, NC; eleven great grandchildren; brother, Johnnie Pickett, of Asheboro, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Anne Hagaman Klevinski Mrs. Anne Hagaman Klevinski, 90, of Clemmons passed away Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, GA. She was born May 4, 1918 in Watauga County to Fred Council and Beulah Shell Hagaman. Mrs. Klevinski was a member of Clemmons First Baptist Church and an active member of WMU. She was also a member of Clemmons Development Council and Clemmons Homemakers Associ -ation. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward Herman Klevinski and a daughter, Marion Janice Klevinski. Surviving are her two sons, Edward H. Klevinski, Jr. and wife Sami of Clemmons and Mark S. Klevinski and wife Dianne of Tobaccoville; two granddaughters, Lisa Talley and Lita Crockett both of Winston-Salem; and three sisters, Sue Harmon of Boone, Lucy Holland of Bowersville, GA and Carolyn Adams of Sugar Grove. A funeral service was held Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Clemmons First Baptist Church with Dr. Robby Phillips officiating. Burial followed in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. Roy Alton “Bud” Spease Roy Alton “Bud” Spease, 78, of Pfafftown, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center ICU.Mr. Spease was born in Forsyth County, July 9, 1930 to William Dewey and Laura Bailey Spease. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl Edward and Richard Gray Spease. Bud spent the last several years of his life living on Spease Farm with Tony, wife Dawn McInnis and their son Clinton Wayne “C.W.” Spease. He never married and lived at his home place with his father “Will Spease” for most of his life. He and his brother “Ed” owned and operated Spease Brothers Farm. Bud loved his farm land and growing grain and he will always be remembered for his expertise in mechanical repairs. All of his hard work and his generous nature will never be forgotten by his family, friends and many people in the farming community. Bud took Tony as the son he never had, and taught him as a young boy how to farm and do mechanical work like he did. Bud will also be remembered as “PeePa” to Clinton Wayne “C.W.” Spease who he adored and loved deeply. He was a faithful member of Shacktown Church of Christ as his faith in God stayed strong with him all of his life. Graveside Services was held Saturday at Boyer’s Chapel Church of Christ on Peacehaven Road by Brothers Lawrence Warden, Steve Johnson and Wayne Bailey. Surviving are two sisters-in-law: Eula Harper Spease, wife of Ed, and Faye Naler Spease, wife of Gray and their three sons and grandchildren. Tony and Dawn Spease would like to thank his mom and dad, Johnny and Brenda Spease for all the help and care they gave to Bud. Also to Rob Ruckman for the time he spent with Bud and all the nurses and staff at Forsyth Medical Center 7th Floor and ICU for doing all they could for “PeePa Bud”. Salem Funeral Service is assisting the Spease family. Charlie Lee Fulton Mr. Charlie Lee Fulton, 85, of Clemmons, passed away Friday, January 23, 2009 at home, of natural causes. Mr. Fulton was born August 9, 1923 in Winston-Salem to the late Elmer Lee Fulton and Julia Marrero Fulton. He graduated from Lewisville High School, where he excelled in sports, and then served in the United States Army 84th Infantry “Rail Splitters” Division during World War II in Europe, receiving a Purple Heart. He returned home January 31, 1946 just in time to surprise his mother for her 53rd birthday. Mr. Fulton retired from RJR Tobacco Company after 35 years of service and was then able to enjoy fishing, hunting, gardening, and traveling. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers; Roberto Miguel Fulton & Elmer Lee Fulton Jr., and two sisters; Sarah Julia Fulton & Dora Margarita Fulton Rumley. Mr. Fulton is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Bovender Fulton, of the home. The two met March 10, 1946 and were wed on September 28, 1946. From this blessed union of 62 years, was born son, Steve Miguel Fulton of King; daughters, Melissa Lee Fulton Penland of Clemmons & Marguerite Fulton of Lexington. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Heather Lee Penland & partner Neil Whicker of Winston-Salem; two brothers; Armando “Bud” Lee Fulton & wife, June of Lewisville and David Ruben Fulton of Pfafftown; and four sisters; Berta Graciela Fulton Gardner of Pensacola, FL, Julia Rebecca Fulton Priddy & husband, David of Hampton, VA, Alicia Maria Fulton Ebert of Winston-Salem, Allie Romelia Fulton Rothrock of Fayetteville. Mr. Fulton was loved dearly and will be deeply missed. A Funeral Service was held Monday, January 26 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Dr. Cecil R. Cave Jr. officiating. . Burial followed at Westlawn Gardens of Memory, 6135 Ridgecrest Rd, Clemmons, NC 27012. We would also like to say thank you to Karen and Krystle of Bayada Nurses. Edward H. “Eddie” Lyons Edward H. “Eddie” Lyons, 85, of Clemmons, NC passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Winston-Salem on May 12, 1923 to the late James and Celeste Bost Lyons. Eddie was a lifelong member of Christ Moravian Church. During his life, Eddie, a 32nd degree Mason, was also a member of the Shrine & the Elks, and loved to fish and play golf. Eddie had a lifetime career with Major League Baseball. He signed a contract out of RJ Reynolds High School when he was 17 with the former Washington Senators. His baseball career was interrupted when he joined the U. S. Navy during WWII. After the war, Eddie played and managed for the Senators, Boston Red Sox, and the St. Louis Cardinals organizations. Later, he became a scout for the St. Louis Cardinals for 22 years which included two World Series Championships. In 1976, Eddie became the third base coach for the Minnesota Twins. After a leg injury ended his coaching, he then began advance scouting the Major League Teams, finishing his career with the Chicago Cubs in 1995. Eddie was honored to be inducted into the Winston-Salem Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998.He was preceeded in death by his wife of 55 years, Donna Sapp Lyons, his brothers, Fuzzy, Jack, and Bobby Lyons, and his sister Eloise Truelove. He is survived by his children Rita Lyons Disher (Rick), Mickey Lyons (Jenny), and Robbyn Lyons (Brooks), 3 grandsons, Matthew (Shannon), Scott (Melinda) and Andrew (Kathi); 3 great-grandsons; 3 great-granddaughters and many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem on January 27, 2009 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at Christ Moravian Church at 11a.m. on January 28, 2009 by Dr. Neil Routh with burial following at God’ s Acre in Old Salem.
